Summer at The Executive Bark has been busy, unpredictable, and a whole lot of fun!
I kicked off the season at the Lafayette Home & Garden Show—where the summer heat definitely made its presence known! I also made my way to Lake St. Louis for not one, but two markets, both with plenty of sunshine and seriously hot temperatures.
One of my favorite evenings was at EDERA in the Central West End. It had such an elegant, relaxed atmosphere, with beautiful surroundings, a gorgeous fountain, and a lovely evening crowd. I stayed late into the night and loved every minute of it. It was one of those markets that felt less like work and more like a beautiful summer evening out.
Then came the first annual Commune Thread Festival on Cherokee Street, which was such a special event. I created some seasonal and vintage tie designs specifically for the festival, and while I was there, someone told me about an incredible local fabric store: The Quilted Fox. I checked it out—and I’ve been hooked ever since! I’m now getting so many of my seasonal cotton fabrics there. Local, beautiful, and high quality. It’s become one of my favorite finds of the summer.
At Let Them Eat Art in Maplewood, everything was going wonderfully. There was a live band, people strolling through the streets, and a great energy all around. Then…a torrential downpour! I spent about an hour hiding under my tent, watching the rain come down and hoping my displays survived the plastic bins.
The Kirkwood Art & Farmers Market was another favorite, with families, live music, and lots of people wandering around as the sun went down. Hot again—but beautiful.
I was also the sole vendor at an exclusive Babes in Business women’s networking event, where I got to connect, chat, and enjoy coffee with some wonderful women.
And then there was Puppy Prom at Bel Air, where I spent the day in the direct heat surrounded by some of St. Louis’s most Instagram-famous pups. Seeing a few arrive already wearing my bows and ties was such a proud moment!
I’ve also popped up at Zoomies Pet Cafe and Schlafly Sundaze markets with Minx Markets.
So yes…we’ve been busy!
And now, while summer winds down, I’m behind the scenes creating fall and Christmas collections. The next season of markets is just around the corner—and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming!
